Why Choose Camp Cool?

Founded in 2001 as Montgomery County Technology Camps, Camp Cool has become a place where there truly is something for everyone.

To our knowledge, there is not another camp in the area with ONE employee as qualified as ALL Camp Cool staff. What has always made our program different is that we don't know exactly what activities we will be doing until we meet our campers. Even then, if we begin an activity that does not work, we scrap it and do something else. It doesn't make sense to repeat an activity half of the campers have already done just because you wrote it on a calendar four months ago. We also rely heavily on camper input for scheduling. Our best activities have come from the minds of children. There are enough pre-packaged programs. We have no desire to become one. With our staff, we have the ability to make it work.

Most students experience significant academic regression during extended breaks. It is generally accepted that the first four to six weeks of a school year are devoted to returning students to a performance level equal to that of the previous year. To minimize such regression, campers attend two math review sessions weekly. Reviews are planned and lead by Montgomery County teachers and aides. Campers are welcome to bring their summer packets to complete at camp.

Technology has always been a large component of our program and will continue to be a source of fun, challenges, and learning. Other activities include: sports, games, arts & crafts, science/engineering activities, drama, cheerleading, dance, board games, video games, playground activities, and others.
